CONGRATULATION TO ALL HOTFM CREWZZ.... !!!!
Hot FM continues to increase its influence and popularity and is now the overall number one radio station in the country while sister stations, Fly FM maintains its position and One FM sees a 86% growth respectively. When Media Prima Radio Networks (MPRN) first entered the market in 2006, the local radio scene was for years dominated by one radio network which seemed to have an ironclad grasp on the local radio listeners’ psyche. The launch of Hot FM has dramatically changed the status quo and thus began a stiff yet exciting competition amongst all radio stations.
Over a relatively short time, Hot FM, through innovation, creativity and cross platform synergy has managed to break the dominance, grew and came out on top with almost 4 million listeners. Maintaining at the top of the radio shows ranking, the Hot FM AM Krew combined with the popular drive time show with Kiran and AG also known as `Jawa Rangers’ has contributed to the jump in position for Hot FM. The station further solidifies its status as the hottest station for the high income group, professionals and students. Hot FM remains the number one choice for radio lovers in living in the major market centers with a big percentage of the listeners living in urban areas.
The latest addition to MPRN, One FM also had a good sweep this time around with a phenomenal increase of 86% in total listenership which makes One FM the fastest growing Chinese radio station in Malaysia. The fresh new vibe that the station brings has struck a chord with radio listeners especially for those below 35 years of age who make up 60% of One FM’s listenership. One FM growth is seen throughout all time belts from the breakfast show to midnight with more than half a million listeners tuning in weekly, 70% of which are students, PMEBs and other white collar workers. One FM Morning Kaki (6am to 10am) and One FM Happy Hour (4pm to 8pm) have recorded the most significant growth of 125% and 72% respectively. Similar to its sister stations, One FM too has a high listenership in the highly dense urban areas of the Klang Valley.
Armed with good and solid consecutive sweeps, 2009 has proven to be an extremely favorable year for Fly FM. Maintaining the number two spot in the English radio station category Fly FM remains strong with a high listenership within the core target group of 18 – 30 year olds. With almost 750,000 listeners Fly FM has the highest profile of urban listeners that constitute a staggering 90% of its total listenership. The Fly FM Pagi Show (6am – 10am) is the number one breakfast show (English market) in the market centers of Penang, Johor Baru and Ipoh, while the Fly FM Must Have Music and Fly FM Music I Like (10am – 4 pm) attract a more affluent mature market and are the number one English radio shows in their respective belts for the above 30 year olds.
Seelan Paul, COO of Media Prima Radio Networks said, “We at MPRN are ecstatic with the result and truly believe what we have planned and strategized for generation Y (our target listeners) has helped us reach the apex of the radio industry. To serve a generation that is technologically and socially savvy we need to continue being a part of our listeners’ life therefore we need not only provide great content (on air) but must also able to touch them via different platforms namely online, on mobile and on ground. Most importantly too is the team behind all this strategy and plans. They are the heart and soul of the station and deserve the credit for this huge success. Lastly I wish to thank all our listeners who made us their No 1 choice. Thank you, we will continue to strive harder for you.”
Media Prima Radio Networks, known for its non-stop lineup of activities and events is actively taking part in social related issues. After Earth Hour, the next big event which combines the efforts of all three stations is a charity screening for unfortunate children where MPRN will be collaborating with its NGO partner Women’s Aid Organization (WAO) and UNICEF in December.
Hot FM will be back with its signature event; Hot FM Mini Jam in November while Hot FM Nite Jam will serve as the closing of the Jam series 2009 which will take place in December. Reaching out to the listeners outside Klang Valley, the station will rock the people in Ipoh and Muar respectively. Fly FM will once again celebrate its anniversary in November with a bang. The 4th Flyniversary is scheduled to take place in Avenue Park One Utama on November 14th starting at 5pm right up till midnight. Also, look out for One FM’s Chinese New Year album in collaboration with NTV7 personalities scheduled to be released at the end of the year.
